Work is going somewhat great lately. We finished another song today entitled "(Rebecca) August (Callaway)". It's short but it's been on my mind for a couple of days now and it's good to get it off of my back. That brings the total completed number of songs to two (the other is "Katherine Hunter") which is somewhat disheartening right now, but such is the proccess of making an album. Things haven't been falling into place as fast as they were but they're still there, no matter how slowly they're coming.

Something that almost set me back a little was listening to Anthony's new track "Dawg the Booty Hunter." It's really fucking good. Sometimes I hear something from one of the other members and it makes me feel like I'm going the wrong way or that I'm never going to do something as good (see also Forrest's "I'm a Ghost" lyrics). That's what Anthony's song did and I'm both happy and slightly depressed. It makes me wish we all lived together again or in close proximity without other relationships getting in the way. Sometimes I wonder what we'd all be able to create with this time (now) and our talent. For example, were we all together, on this album I want so very badly to have Forrest and Anthony sing in my choruses. I have so many of them and most of them I want to sound so dense with not just my voice doubled, tripled, but to have different vocal textures. At the risk of sounding greedy, I miss not being able to have the group at my disposal.

Speaking of Forrest's "I'm a Ghost" (which I'm supposed to be arranging) I've written something recently (tenatively titled "That Road Alone") with the same theme (seeing, interacting with a ghost) in mind and am curious if we could arrange for the track to be featured on the Wyatt album. I say that because the problem with having a definite theme for Wes (Ear Infections) and I is that it almost always sounds forced. The song that we developed just came to me one day and I immediately thought about Forrest's song. I love his lyrics to that song. I'll ask him.

This song we just finished is a departure from anything we've done in the past in that there's no rapping at all and it presents itself solely as a lyrical song. I don't know where it's going to go on the album but it's going to be different, which is the founding principle of my solo work I think. I hope to have another done soon. Until then, seriously, stay affixed to this bloggedy blog.
